From January 16, 2021, Royal Air Maroc will start a non-stop connection to Tel Aviv. Initially, four weekly Boeing 787 flights from Casablanca are to be offered. There are currently four 787-8s and four 787-9s in the fleet.
In contrast to its neighbors Algeria and Tunisia, Morocco has established official diplomatic relations with Israel. This followed, among others, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. It is still unclear whether Algeria and Tunisia will cross or not with regard to the overflights. In any case, El Al is also planning to fly between Tel Aviv and Casablanca. An exact date for the start of the route has not yet been set, but roughly “end of the first quarter of 2021” has been announced. The two carriers intended to cooperate within the framework of a codeshare agreement.
