The shipping company Royal Caribbean International has taken over its new flagship with the "Wonder of the Seas". This is scheduled to begin its maiden voyage on March 4, 2022 from Fort Lauderdale. The cruise ship was built within three years at Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Marseille, France.

The first trip will take the newly built ship on a seven-day Caribbean voyage before heading to Barcelona, ​​Spain and Rome. “Bigger and bolder, Wonder of the Seas aims to inject a new energy into the cruising experience. This new ship in our already world-class fleet underscores the company's leadership in the industry. It offers new attractions and is very innovative,” said Jason Liberty, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group. "As always, we contribute to providing our guests around the world with quality and memorable vacations in a responsible manner."

Cruise ship with new features

Wonder is the fifth ship in Royal Caribbean's innovative Oasis class. It offers vacationers of all ages adventure across eight nieghborhoods—a first for Royal Caribbean.

Suite Neighborhood - The new Eighth Neighborhood offers Royal Suite Class guests an elevated Suite Sundeck in a new location with a plunge pool, bar and plenty of lounge chairs and recline corners; plus favorites like the Coastal Kitchen, the private restaurant, the Suite Lounge, and the largest-ever Ultimate Family Suite, which can accommodate a family of ten.

Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar - The new hotspot serving brunch, dinner and late night, serving Southern classics and new twists on the cuisine, including delicious Johnnycakes, Southern Fried Chicken, Crab Fries and Shrimp & Grits. There is also live country music, country-style decor, a collection of American whiskeys and shakes with a twist for an authentic ambience.

Wonder Playscape - The kids' underwater play area is a whole new adventure with slides, climbing walls, games, an interactive touch-activated mural and imaginative puzzles.

The Vue Bar – The happiest happy hour can be had in the new cantilevered bar, which offers panoramic ocean views during the day and glows with a colorful mosaic roof after sunset.

Caribbean Pool Deck - The Lime & Coconut is the focal point of this deck with a Caribbean theme, which also features The Perfect Storm's three high-speed water slides, Splashaway Bay children's aqua park, casitas, pool loungers, live music and much more offers.

El Loco Fresh and Cantina Fresca - The eatery featuring Mexican delights like tacos, burritos, and quesadillas made to order now introduces Cantina Fresca. The dedicated bar serves a selection of aguas frescas, margaritas and other Mexican dishes.

Upcoming cruises in the US and Europe

From May, the new ship of the Oasis class will set course for summer holidays in the Mediterranean. The seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises include well-known destinations such as Naples and Florence in Italy; Palma de Mallorca in Spain; and headed for Provence in France.

Year-round sailings on Wonder begin November 2022, when the newest member of the Royal Caribbean fleet will depart from Port Canaveral. Destinations awaiting vacationers include Perfect Day at CocoCay and Philipsburg on St. Maarten, Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas, and Cozumel in Mexico.
