The state-owned RUAG Holding announced that some assets at the Oberpfaffenhofen site (Germany) will be sold. The maintenance center for business jets and military helicopters as well as the production and maintenance of the Dornier 228 model are affected.

General Atomics Europe GmbH is the buyer. According to the announcement, the 450 jobs are to be retained. The company is a subsidiary of the US General Atomics, which specializes in the manufacture of nuclear power plants and drones. The Oberpfaffenhofen location is to be expanded into the Group's European aviation competence center.

After Fairchild-Dornier went bankrupt in 2002, the Swiss Ruag Group secured numerous assets in Oberpfaffenhofen. Among other things, the production of the Dornier 228 was also taken over. However, the rights to the Do328 are not held. A revised Do228NG was brought onto the market under RUAG and produced in small series.
