The Boeing 737-Max-8, registration N8792Q, operated by Southwest Airlines, suffered an engine failure shortly after takeoff from Cuba's Havana Airport. Flight WN3923, bound for Fort Lauderdale, was cancelled. The return landing was successful.

The right engine of the Boeing 737 Max 8 failed shortly after takeoff from the Cuban airport. The pilots decided to turn back. According to unconfirmed reports, the medium-haul jet is said to have been hit by larger birds. Video footage shared on social media shows passengers exiting the plane via the evacuation slides as rescue crews work to extinguish the 1 Max's CFM International LEAP-737B right engine.

The exact extent of the damage is still unclear. So far, the Boeing 737-Max-8 operated by Southwest Airlines has not been able to leave Havana Airport. There is a high probability that at least one replacement engine will have to be flown in. The affected aircraft was taken over by the US low-cost airline on November 22, 2022.
