The Russian airline Vologda Air Enterprise has now also opted for the new edition of the Il-114 turboprop aircraft. During the MAKS aviation trade fair, the signing of a leasing contract was communicated with the state-owned GTLK.
The Illyushin Il-114 was produced from 1986 to 2021. Although the machine is extremely fuel efficient, it was never a commercial success. Only 20 copies were made and the only “bigger” operator Uzbekistan Airways phased out the last copies in 2018.
The new edition will be launched as the Il-114-300 and will go into series production in Luchowizy from 2023. So far, however, the UAC has not yet managed to land large orders. KrasAvia, Polar Airlines and now also Vologda Air Enterprise have already publicly committed to this model.
Russia tries to persuade the local airlines to use machines that are manufactured in their home country with the help of subsidies and cheap leasing offers. The government has paid particular attention to the SSJ-100, MS-21 and Il-114-300 models. It is therefore to be expected that state leasing companies have placed further orders for the new edition of the previously unsuccessful Turboprop.
