The Russian Aviadvigatel PD-35 engine will be delayed by at least two years. This was admitted to the Tass agency by Alexander Inozemtsev, chief engineer at United Engine Corporation.
Originally it was planned that the PD-25 should be delivered for the first time between 2027 and 2028. Due to "all events, the date is postponed by a few years". The manager avoids naming precise reasons such as the war against Ukraine and the resulting sanctions by the European Union and the United States of America.
United Engine Corporation currently assumes that the PD-35 cannot be delivered before 2029. Supposedly it would also be behind the fact that additional human resources would have to be used for the models PD-14, PD-8 and PS-90A, since these should currently have priority.
The PD-35 is an upgraded and modified version of the PD-14 currently in development, intended to power the MC-21, Russia's forthcoming medium-range aircraft. It is designed to compete with powerplants such as the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 and General Electric's GEnx, developing up to 77.000 pounds of thrust.
