On Wednesday morning, the Antonov An-24 operated by Angara Airlines, registration RA-47848, suffered a landing accident at Russia's Ust-Kut airport. The machine touched the runway with the left wing, which partially buckled as a result.
The turboprop aircraft was flight number 2G8275 en route from Irkutsk to Ust-Kut. According to official information, the flight went smoothly. Strong cross winds are said to have prevailed during the landing process. According to initial findings, this led to the left wing touching the surface of the runway.
According to an official statement, 24 passengers and four crew members were on board the aging An-44. They were able to leave the machine. Since the aircraft shows considerable material damage, it is questionable whether a repair is worthwhile in view of its old age. Corresponding investigations are currently being carried out by the local aircraft accident investigation office.
