The low-cost airline Ryanair will withdraw completely from Northern Ireland. The carrier currently offers its services from Belfast International and Belfast City. Management accuses the UK government of not giving the industry any incentives to recover.

"Due to the UK government's refusal to suspend or reduce APD [Air Passenger Duty] and the lack of incentives to recover from Covid from both Belfast airports, Ryanair will cease operations at Belfast International and Belfast City Airport this winter from Set at the end of the summer flight schedule, ”said the low-cost airline in a statement.

The aircraft used on the routes to / from Belfast are to be used from other airports in Europe - at least in the winter flight schedule 2021/22. However, Ryanair did not say where they would be relocated. One speaks only of "cheaper airports in the UK and Europe".

The flight offer in Derry was discontinued at the beginning of 2021. It was only in June of this year that Ryanair returned to Belfast City Airport after an eleven-year absence. There are currently eight routes from this airport. These are many routes that were previously operated by Flybe.
