The destination Aqaba has not yet been offered non-stop from Vienna-Schwechat. That will change in December 2021, when Wizz Air and Ryanair will offer this route. The two carriers are thus "doubling" routes again.

The Hungarian low-cost airline announced on October 4, 2021 the inclusion of Amman and Aqaba. Wizz Air will serve the last-named city on Thursday and Sunday from December 18, 2021. The reaction of the competitor, whose former daughter Amman was already in the program "before Corona", was not long in coming.

From December 3, 2021, Ryanair will fly between Vienna and Aqaba on Mondays and Fridays. Depending on the day of traffic, Boeing 737-800s or Airbus A320s operated by Lauda Europe are used. The pink competitor usually wants to operate this route with an Airbus A321neo.

The two low-cost airlines have been competing in Vienna-Schwechat for some time. It happens very often that you are looking for direct competition and “double” routes from the other provider. So far, this was actually only interrupted by the defacto groundings at the beginning of the corona pandemic. Obviously, one is now looking for direct confrontation again.
