Only a few days ago it became known that the Air Europa parent company Globalia had applied for state aid in the amount of 400 million euros in Spain. The reaction from Ryanair was not long in coming: the competitor considers this to be illegal and announces legal action if granted.
The Irish low-cost airline spoke to almost every state aid in all of Europe and announced legal action in each case. So also in the cases of Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa. The company threatened to file a competition complaint with the European Commission and take legal action before the European Court of Justice. However, Ryanair took out a government backed loan even in the UK.
