Ryanair Group is currently in a dispute with the authorities of Morocco. The carrier is threatening to withdraw all flight connections from May. The background is that the low-cost airline does not agree with the repeated bans on international flights.

Local news site Maghreb Intelligence reports that contacts between Ryanair and the Moroccan authorities have been strained since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Accordingly, the Irish group is upset that the Airspace has been repeatedly closed and the airline could not meet its contractual obligations towards the passengers. Tens of thousands of travelers are said to be affected.

Due to the ban on all international passenger flights due to the Omicron variant, Ryanair connections to/from Morocco are suspended until at least February 1, 2022. There is currently no decision as to whether the official measure, which affects all airlines, will expire at the end of January 2022 or not.

Ryanair had just a few months ago opening one new Boeing 737 base at Agadir Airport announced. In the event of a withdrawal from Morocco, this too could be closed. Local tourism is concerned about the current developments, because the Irish group is said to have flown in many holidaymakers in the past.
