The Ryanair Group expects to make a profit of at least one billion euros in the current financial year, which began on April 1, 2022. Company boss Michael O'Leary does not expect that the latest price increases will have an adverse effect, as passengers would increasingly tend towards discounters.
The company forecasts around 168 million passengers for the current financial year. This corrects the previous forecast of 166,5 million passengers upwards. In the first half of the year, adjusted profits amounted to 1,37 billion euros. In the same period last year you had a loss of 48 million euros. Ryanair's financial results, announced Monday, are above pre-pandemic levels.
Michael O'Leary explained in very long statements that he believes that potential passengers would increasingly resort to low-cost airlines due to general inflation. As an example, he cited the fact that many people would shop more frequently at Lidl, Aldi and Ikea in everyday life and that behavior in aviation would be comparable. In the current 2022/23 winter timetable period, there would therefore be a ten percent increase in supply compared to the pre-corona period.
In the first half of the current financial year, the Ryanair Group carried around 95,1 million passengers. This means that the volume could be doubled compared to the same period last year. The occupancy improved from 79 percent to 94 percent. Sales were communicated at 6,6 billion euros. For the year as a whole, the group expects a profit of between one and 1,2 billion euros.
