The ban on international passenger flights issued by Morocco has a particularly unpleasant side, especially for holidaymakers, because many travelers are currently stuck in the North African state. Negotiations on return flights are ongoing and have not yet been completed.
These are likely to be less important for people from Germany, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, as passenger flights from these countries were banned a few weeks ago. Vacationers from other EU countries, including Austria, are stuck in Morocco.
Ryanair, among others, has now officially applied through diplomatic channels for repatriation flights to be carried out as quickly as possible. It is hoped that approval will be given next week at the latest. In concrete terms, this would mean that the Ryanair Group's planes would fly empty to Morocco, where people who want to go home to the EU could board.
It is planned that a number of return flights will be carried out on December 7, 2021. Ryanair wants to contact affected passengers promptly via the stored contact details in order to enable them to return home. It is currently known that repatriation flights to Dublin, Barcelona, Madrid and Milan-Bergamo are about to be approved. Further return flights are planned and should be communicated as soon as possible. Other airlines and tour operators are also currently negotiating intensively about the repatriation of their guests.
