Saarbrücken Airport has been connected to Hamburg again since Monday. The regional airline Danish Air Transport carried out the maiden flight with the ATR72. The route was previously operated by Luxair as a stopover on the way from Luxembourg to the Hanseatic city.

"We are delighted that DAT is now also flying to Hamburg from the SCN," said Airport Managing Director Thomas Schuck. "We have been working closely with the Danish airline since January 2020 and are convinced that the route will be served in a stable and reliable manner."

Danish Air Transport also took over another former Luxair route some time ago, namely Berlin-Saarbrücken. This route was also abandoned by the airline from Luxembourg. DAT temporarily suspended the domestic German route due to the corona pandemic. From the Saarland onwards, two destinations are now being offered within the Federal Republic.

"We are looking forward to the challenge of being able to fly the route to Hamburg as well," said Jesper Rungholm, CEO / Captain of DAT. "Hamburg is only a good 2 hours from our company headquarters in southern Denmark, so personally I can hardly wait to be able to fly our German routes more often myself and to visit the beautiful Saarland in summer."

The flight times are as follows: departure SCN at 10:40 a.m., arrival HAM at 12:10 p.m. Departure HAM 15:40 p.m., arrival SCN 17:10 p.m. The flights do not take place during the Whitsun holidays or on bridging days.
