The airlines of the Lufthansa Group are suspending their flight connections to Iran until at least January 31, 2023. The background is that the security situation is currently assessed as unclear. Recently there have been drone attacks on a munitions factory located near the city of Isfahan.

Iran claims it successfully repelled the airstrike. However, images circulated by various news outlets show severe damage and an explosion. It is currently unclear who launched the attack, but there are now several reports that Israel is behind it.

For security reasons, the Lufthansa Group has decided to cancel all flights to Iran until at least January 31, 2023. Among other things, the group reports: "Together with national and international authorities, Lufthansa Group Security continues to evaluate the security situation for arrivals and departures for Tehran Airport and the entire Iranian airspace," the group continues. "As soon as we have detailed information, we will decide whether or when our Iran flights can be operated again".
