The airline Salam Air is putting out feelers towards Europe. They want to expand strongly in this direction and will lease three Airbus A330s from Avolon. The first unit is expected to be handed over in October 2023.

The newcomers will be equipped with 365 economy class and 12 premium flatbed seats. The carrier promises that passengers in both classes will be offered more comfort. The longer range compared to the A330ceo would also allow Salam Air to record targets that are currently outside the range of the existing fleet.

“The choice of the Airbus A330neo complements the existing Airbus fleet, which includes the A320neo, the A321neo and an A321 Freighter. With the addition of the A330neo to the fleet, SalamAir aims to increase its capacity, meet growing market demand and attract more tourists, in line with the goals of Oman's Vision 2040,” said SalamAir CEO Mohamed Ahmed.

The aviation company is a new customer for the lessor Avolon. “We are delighted to welcome SalamAir as a new customer, bringing the fuel efficiency benefits of the A330neo to yet another airline. Since its launch, SalamAir's low-cost model has proven to be a huge success and these new aircraft will support its plans to offer more capacity and comfort to its growing number of passengers. Air travel expansion in the Middle East will continue and the region is a focus for further leasing opportunities for Avolon,” said Paul Geaney, Avolon's President and Chief Commercial Officer,
