At Salzburg Airport, the long-standing catering operator Lagardère Travel Retail used the times, which were repeatedly weak due to the corona pandemic, to bring the catering establishments up to date.

After the former tobacconist, which had been based at the airport for decades, closed this year, the shop was renovated and, for a few weeks now, departing passengers have been able to buy Austrian and international daily newspapers, books, electronic items, tobacco goods, travel needs, drinks and small items in the new and modern Relay shop Buy snacks and much more. Connected to the Relay shop, which is open 7 days a week, there is also a café, the So!Coffee.

“With loyal partners such as Lagardère Travel Retail, we have been considering how significant improvements can be generated for our visitors over the past few months. These plans were implemented in three areas - the new Relay Shop in the airport hall, the extended market café in the departure area and the "Wolfgang" restaurant on the roof terrace. My heartfelt thanks go to our partner Lagardère, who not only made a clear commitment to Salzburg Airport, but was also willing to invest in the future together with us. In addition to these conversions in the catering area, we have been able to expand the control lanes and modernize the automatic check-in machines in the past few months," says Airport Managing Director Bettina Ganghofer.

Even after the security checks, a lot has changed for departing passengers. The market café in the waiting area in front of the gates has been significantly enlarged and redesigned. More space is now available for the passengers. “The former large café on the landside in the public area next to the travel agency has now been integrated into the market café on the airside, creating more space for the departing passengers who have already been through security. We are thus meeting the urgent requests of many departing guests and were able to gain 60 additional seats in order to make the waiting time before departure as pleasant and entertaining as possible,” says Ursula Fürnhammer, CEO of Lagadére Travel.

Das Wolfgang is located on the second floor of the terminal. Its roof terrace also offers a view of the apron of the airport. "Das Wolfgang" impresses with its special airport flair. This is where passengers, airport employees and guests who are looking for a great atmosphere or simply want to party meet. "With the renovations at Salzburg Airport, we not only made a commitment to the location, we want to make gastronomy an experience for people. We create incentives to make the airport interesting not only for departures and arrivals, but also for the gastronomic airport experience as a special highlight after work, on a weekend with the family, at a business lunch on the roof terrace or at a chilled party with a DJ Integrating sounds into everyday life,” says Silvie Posch, the Salzburg branch manager of Lagardère Travel Retail.
