On Thursday evening around 21:40 p.m. Flydubai landed at Salzburg Airport for the first time. The carrier now offers a year-round connection to Dubai. The airport describes the event as a "milestone in the history of the airport". Changes to Emirates flights are possible.

"It's done! The negotiations around this route were very complex and lengthy, but ultimately crowned with success. It is a very special event for our airport, because this connection to Dubai opens up an abundance of new onward flight options all over the world, ”says a delighted airport manager Christopher Losmann. “The codeshare connection in the Emirates Hub Dubai creates completely new perspectives for Salzburg Airport. In addition to the three airline alliances already represented, Star Alliance, One World and Skyteam, we now have a “4. Allianz ”. In this way, we will in future be able to offer passengers the opportunity to reach destinations in the flydubai and Emirates network all over the world quickly and easily. An unbelievable gain for the airport, the state of Salzburg and neighboring regions and our passengers ”.

For the time being, FlyDubai is making four weekly circuits between the two cities. Behind this are the intensive efforts of the airport, because first of all the traffic rights had to be obtained and then Corona put a provisional thrown in the bill. "In the past few weeks, the Austrian entry regulation was the last hurdle that could be overcome, because the amendment of the guideline means that nothing stands in the way of quarantine-free entry for people who have already been vaccinated against Covid-19," said Salzburg Airport in a statement.

“With the addition of flights to Salzburg, we are continuously expanding our network in order to meet the increasing demand, as more and more passengers want to fly again and more and more countries are relaxing the restrictions on international air travel. Since the start of flight operations in 2009, we have endeavored to open up markets that were previously under-served. The start of flight operations to Austria shows that we are striving to give more people the opportunity to travel more often. At the same time, we want to create a free flow of travel, trade and tourism, ”says FlyDubai managing director Ghaith Al Ghaith.
