Around 250 people from the Ukraine who are staying in the Austrian state of Salzburg for holiday purposes, for example, are “stranded” there for the time being. Although the vacationers are in a safe country, it is no longer possible to travel home by air.

The background is that the armed forces of the Russian Federation have attacked their neighboring country and war is raging in Ukraine. For safety reasons, all civil flights are prohibited for an indefinite period. The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air was no longer able to fly four machines out of what was now the war zone.

According to information from the Salzburger Kronen Zeitung, the approximately 250 Ukrainians stranded in Salzburg are said to have made their way home by land. Another part wants to wait for further developments in safe Austria. The state government announced that the stranded Ukrainians should be supported. Some hoteliers also showed heart and let the Ukrainians live in their houses free of charge until it is clarified how things will go on.
