In the summer of 2020, the low-cost airline Wizz Air was presented as a great hope at Salzburg Airport. After just a few flights but it was over again and since then the low coster has been postponing its comeback at regular intervals. Only two routes to the city of Mozart are now planned.

Last year was the start of Varna flights canceled at very short notice and pushed back a whole year. Now Wizz Air has changed its mind and completely eliminated the Bulgaria route from the reservation system. This carrier will not offer any flights to the Black Sea from Salzburg in the 2022 summer timetable.

Currently, only the planned destinations of Kiev and St. Petersburg remain. Both routes should already recorded in September 2020 will. However, Wizz Air regularly postpones the first flights. It is currently planned that these should be served from the end of March 2022. It remains to be seen whether it will actually be recorded or postponed again. In contrast to Vienna, Wizz Air has not stationed any aircraft in the city of Mozart.
