Sarajevo: Subsidies go to Wizz Air, Sunexpress and Ryanair

In Sarajevo, subsidies were recently announced for the launch of new routes. A total of five carriers applied, with the contract being awarded to Wizz Air, Ryanair and SunExpress.

While Wizz Air is already active at Sarajevo Airport, the other two providers are not. According to the announcement, Tui Airways and Lot are said to have not met the conditions of the tender. Norwegian also applied, but submitted the documents too late, meaning that this airline was excluded from the award process.

It is still unclear which route will be assigned to which carrier. Since destinations such as Singapore and Hong Kong are also on the government's wish list, it is very unlikely that the subsidies will be able to find operators for all routes.
