Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) joined the global airline alliance SkyTeam on September 1, 2024, after successfully completing its Chapter 11 restructuring.

This accession, which will involve leaving the existing Star Alliance, will give SAS customers access to an extensive network of over 1.060 destinations worldwide, particularly in regions such as Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. The alliance change is supported by a significant investment from Air France-KLM, which has acquired a 19,9 percent stake in SAS. SAS CEO Anko van der Werff stressed that joining SkyTeam marks a new era for the airline, strengthening the global network and offering additional value to passengers.
