SAS boss Rickard Gustafson is leaving Scandinavia's leading airline. The 56-year-old decided to say goodbye to SAS on July 1 at the latest after ten years, the airline announced on Monday evening. Who will be his successor is still in the stars.

“After ten intense and stimulating years, the time has come to pass the baton to the next CEO of SAS in the first half of 2021,” Gustafson was quoted as saying in a corporate statement. SAS is in a strong position in the Scandinavian market and is well positioned to lead the aviation industry into a more sustainable future once the coronavirus pandemic is under control. As a reason for his decision, Gustafson cited to switch to one of the largest industrial groups in Sweden. This is the ball bearing group SKF, where he will be the new CEO in the course of the first half of the year, as the Gothenburg-based company also announced in the evening.
