The Coronavorus crisis is demanding a lot from the aviation industry. And forcing seasoned employers to adopt bad business practices in order to survive the crisis lightly.

Either-or is the name of the game for the Danish workforce of the Scandinavian airline SAS. Because, as has now been leaked from internal circles, the airline is said to have given around 70 percent of its employees the choice in September: Either you accept a wage cut or you pack your seven things.

The background to this story is an agreement with the social partners and the Danish government. It is anchored in this that SAS can send employees home if necessary. The state assumes the failures, but not up to the full amount. Without mercy, but quite effective: Almost 900 employees - including 550 flight attendants and 350 pilots - have already approved the program, like the news magazine Swiss Aviation reported. SAS expects more to come.
