The German holiday airline Tuifly is obviously looking for other ways to save costs. Curious things also seem to be taken into account: it is being considered that flying personnel could be prohibited from taking a change of clothes with them.

The idea behind this is that there will be less weight on board and thus lower fuel consumption. The savings that can be made on a single flight are incredible. However, such a measure can definitely pay off over an entire year.

Tuifly Managing Director Oliver Lackmann explained to the FVW that there is currently a discussion as to whether the pilots and flight attendants will no longer be allowed to take a change of clothes on board for one-day rotations in the future. This means assignments that end at the end of the working day at the same airport where the shift started at the start of the shift.

They want to reduce the weight on board the Boeing 737 fleet and put every non-essential item to the test. In view of the current sharp rise in fuel prices, this is a perfectly understandable decision. Lackmann also told FVW that he doesn't need a toothbrush even during one-day circuits.

Savings are in vogue and important too. However, I wonder what such "managers" have on their minds and if they know what they are being paid for.
One gets food on their clothes, the next drinks... and then he's supposed to represent the company "dirty"!? A rip in a garment seam and you are working half exposed. Sometimes thinking is just a matter of luck, Mr. Lackmann. Or are there also men's favorites from the management consultancy behind it?
If H Lackmann doesn't need a toothbrush on one-day trips, quite apart from the immense weight savings, someone else uses them; sometimes you want a fresh taste and smell in your mouth.

Is this an early April Fool's joke?
It's not worth the manager's money to discuss such things. I would like to agree wholeheartedly with the previous speaker, even if the uniform doesn't get soiled, doesn't tear, etc.. Maybe a crew member just wants to change clothes and freshen up because you've been perspiring. human right?
And have you ever thought about it, if something goes against the plan of action and the machine can't reach its starting point? Late arrival, alternate landing, due to weather, closed airport, missed slot, etc.? Then the crew flies on the next day, just dingy. Oh great!

I'm not a staff member but as a traveler I wouldn't want to fly with an airline that treats their staff like this! Man, then take 5 or 10 euros more for the flight. This avarice is cool mentality has to stop.

TUI does away with such activities. Just like the reduction in the baggage allowance from 20kg to 15kg a few years ago. "The market demands it" was the idiotic reply of a TUIfly manager.
TUI fly and TUI is meanwhile a NOGO for me.

Mr. Lackmann maybe you better get rid of it yourself first, the savings would be enormous 😉

These managers have already driven Air Berlin to the wall, now they are working on TUIfly.
A look at Condor shows 53 aircraft, new Airbus A330. Go then…
Some create a phoenix from the ashes out of a candidate for bankruptcy, others save a formerly flourishing society with smelly shirts and bad breath.
