At the moment, Air Dolomiti has not yet asked to pay for food and drinks in Economy Class. The emphasis is on “still”, because from mid-December, if you are thirsty or hungry, you will have to pull out your wallet at this Lufthansa subsidiary too.
Austrian Airlines, Swiss, Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines introduced paid catering on short and medium-haul flights some time ago. Previously, under the guise of the corona pandemic, the offer, which was still free, had been massively reduced. The AUA, for example, introduced it just at a time when the number of new infections had reached its peak a chargeable offer of food and drinks. Leberkäsesemmel for six euros Despite intensive marketing efforts, they probably did not find enough buyers because they were again from the Menu removed.
“Our new product selection puts the passenger's personal choice in the foreground. SpazioItaliaBar includes a wide range of absolutely high-quality products that are regularly changed and take different tastes into account, ”explains Alberto Casamatti, CEO, Director General Operations & Accountable Manager of Air Dolomiti.
So far, the flights operated by Air Dolomiti under EN flight numbers have been spared paid catering. This will come to an end from mid-December 2021, because the Italian carrier will take over the concept of the sister companies and also ask for food and drinks to be paid for. Of course, Air Dolomiti presents the change as an improvement for the passengers, because it is argued that they now have a greater choice.
For “SpazioItaliaBar”, Air Dolomiti works with JRE, Jeunes Restaurateurs d'Europe (fresh main courses), Biasetto (desserts) and Illy (coffee specialties), among others. The new on-board service is offered in full compliance with the protective measures already in place to contain the Covid19 pandemic.
“This step, which is important for the travel experience of our passengers, is the result of months of intensive work. SpazioItaliaBar enables Air Dolomiti to offer a better, more individual product on board in the future, while taking environmental aspects into account. We are thus underlining the great importance given to in-flight service and our claim to offer our passengers the best possible care ”, says Dario Bruni, Vice President Business Development, Product, ICT & Managing Director Air Dolomiti Deutschland GmbH.
