A former Air India plane got stuck under a bridge in India. The Airbus A320 with the former registration VT-ESB was to be transported to Hyderabad by land. However, under the Medarametla overpass in the district of Bapatla, it was over for the time being. And that was also captured on film.

Transporting a former airliner overland is truly a challenge for companies specializing in heavy transport. The route must be planned so that there are no obstacles. Permits and temporary roadblocks must also be applied for. But something went wrong in the planning because the height of a bridge was not taken into account. And so it happened as it had to: The former VT-ESB got stuck under it.

This is not the first such incident in India. Some time ago, another "oops" happened to another decommissioned Air India aircraft. This machine also got stuck under a bridge and had to be laboriously removed in order to cause as little damage as possible to the aircraft and the overpass.

Accordingly, it is not surprising that some Indian media report a little sarcastically about a "déjà-vu" or speculate that the transport companies and authorities will never learn how high or low the bridges actually are. It should have been noticed in advance that the Airbus A320 and its heavy-duty transporter would never have been able to get through. However, this presupposes that the company and the authorities had correct data on the height of the building...

The following video, published on YouTube, shows the course of the “Bridge Incident”:
