The sword of Damocles of possible closure has been hanging over the inner-city Stockholm-Bromma airport for several months. Now the government has announced that the airport will be closed. A new residential area is to be built on the site. So far, Bromma has been an important base for the regional airline BRA.

At a media conference, Transport Minister Tomas Eneroth also said that Arlanda might need expansion. The operator Swedavia is currently evaluating the needs that could arise from the relocation of the providers currently active in Bromma.

There is not yet an exact time for the closure of Bromma Airport. In this context, the Minister of Transport referred to discussions with the opposition that were still necessary. The Swedish government does not have a majority and must therefore seek approval.
