The Federal Republic of Germany plans to ban entry from certain countries that are particularly badly plagued by new mutations of the coronavirus. Federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) said that the procedure should be coordinated with the federal states by tomorrow, Friday.

It seems to be urgent because the member of the government announced that the agreement will then be approved by means of a circular resolution. From Horst Seehofer's point of view, a solution at EU level is currently not in sight.

The German interior minister did not say which states could be affected by the planned entry ban. Before that, there was also a political discussion in Germany about largely stopping air traffic. The EU heads of government only agreed a few days ago that travel should be prevented or made more complicated if possible.
