The corona pandemic continues to bother Frankfurt Airport: In September, Germany's largest commercial airport counted a good 1,1 million passengers - a decrease of 82,9 percent compared to the same month last year.

Accumulated over the first nine months of the year, the number of passengers fell by 70,2 percent, as the airport operator Fraport announced. The travel restrictions that still apply and the uncertainty in travel planning as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic have been dampening demand for months. With 16.940 take-offs and landings, the number of flight movements fell by 63,7 percent. The freight volume fell last month by 5 percent to 165.967 tons, in the period from January to September even by 12,7 percent.

The airports in the international portfolio were affected to varying degrees by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in September. At some locations there were positive effects from a slight increase in holiday travel. In other countries, some extensive travel restrictions continued to apply.
