The shipping company Silversea Cruises has christened its newcomer Silver Endeavor in a place that is not exactly everyday. The ceremony was performed in the Lemaire Channel in Antarctica.

It is not a new build, but the expedition ship was bought from the bankruptcy estate of the bankrupt competitor Crystal Cruises. The fleet was thus expanded to eleven cruise ships. Silversea Cruises is a cruise line based in the Principality of Monaco and is part of the Royal Caribbean Group.

The Silver Endeavor has accommodation for a maximum of 200 passengers. According to the shipping company, it is licensed for the PC-6 ice class and is being marketed as a particularly luxurious expedition ship. "We are delighted to officially welcome Silver Endeavor to the Royal Caribbean Group fleet, expanding our global fleet to 64 ships," said CEO Jason Liberty.
