After extensive maintenance and safety measures, Golm Silvretta Lünersee Tourismus GmbH can lift the winter closure of the popular pass route between Vorarlberg and Tyrol on June 8, 2023, 06:00 a.m.

The Silvretta High Alpine Road will be open to public transport again from June 8th. Before the spectacular route opens to the public, there is a long list of tasks that must be completed. After the snow has been cleared, boundaries have to be reset, crash barriers installed, the asphalt renewed and markings sprayed. Beforehand, the experienced rock clearers remove loose boulders and rocks in the catchment area of the route in order to be able to guarantee the safety of the day trippers. “Even though the winter was comparatively mild this year, the weather conditions have kept us very busy in recent weeks. But we have worked intensively on the opening and are now looking forward to the summer season," says Managing Director Markus Burtscher.

This year, too, no wishes remain unfulfilled at the Bielerhöhe. In addition to the fantastic mountain scenery, the spectacular via ferrata route along the mighty Silvretta dam remains a crowd puller for outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to the popular circular route around the lake, numerous hiking trails tempt you to take a short or longer trip to the Silvretta mountains.

Those who prefer to take it easy can either stay in the Silvretta-Haus*** or enjoy the clear view of the Alps from the "Piz Buin" viewing platform. A highlight on the new platform is the three-dimensional map of Europe showing the course of the European watershed. The European rivers are staged using lighting technology. Other points of interest along the course of the river, such as cities, large reservoirs or power plants are also displayed.

Friends of art will get their money's worth again this year. The installation "Erdenlicht" by the Vorarlberg artist Miriam Prantl in the spectacular Schützenschacht of the Obervermuntwerk II power plant of the illwerke vkw is dedicated to the elements and, accompanied by light and sound effects, enables an exciting insight into the "inner earth". Kunstraum2032silvretta is also entering its first full season this year. Thanks to a flexible light and sound installation by the light artist Werner Zotter, the room can be used and played on in a multifunctional manner. A four-hour weather forecast for the Silvretta area is displayed in the tunnel for visitors and mountaineers during "artificial breaks". The weather forecast is presented audiovisually using light and sound effects. A highlight on every hike and by no means everything that art lovers can discover on the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe. The popular Silvretta Silvrettasee Restaurant starts the summer season on June 8, 2023, the Silvretta-Haus and the "Lädili" are also open from the weekend.

The connecting route between Partenen in Montafon and Galtür offers a fantastic mountain panorama over 22,3 kilometers and meanders over 34 hairpin bends from Vorarlberg to Tyrol. Due to the weather conditions, use of the famous pass road is limited to the summer months (June to October).
