On November 4, 2021, Singapore Airlines will break the record previously held by Emirates and start the shortest Airbus A380 route. The superjumbo is to be used once a day on the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur route. The actual flight time is less than an hour.

This route is to be operated for the first time on November 4, 2021 under the flight number SQ106 with an Airbus A380. The return flight is offered as SQ105. The flight takes place in the morning. From November 5, 2021, the superjumbo will be used in the evening on the pair of courses SQ126 / 125. This route is normally served by Boeing 737-800 from Singapore Airlines or Airbus A320 from subsidiary Scoot.

It is provisionally planned that the Airbus A380 machine type will be used on Singapore-Kuala Lumpur-Singapore up to and including December 3, 2021, on a daily basis. The background should not only be that the demand is rising sharply due to the travel easing, but the pilots need flight hours. Therefore, the passenger flights are also used as training for the pilots.
