The Singapore government will take a further 540 million euros in hand to take the ailing aviation industry under the wings. Finance Minister Heng Sww Keat announced on Tuesday that the airlines will also receive discounts at the airports.
In the previous year, the state helped the country's largest operator, the Singapore Airlines Group, with 383 million euros. In addition to the funds now to be distributed to the industry, the airlines are to receive at least a ten percent discount on the fees at Singapore Airport. Furthermore, the rents for offices and lounges in Seletar and Changi are to be reduced by at least half. These measures should initially apply for one year.
