Ski openings: ÖAMTC warns of traffic jams on motorways

The first ski openings are just around the corner: The ski season starts in many regions in Salzburg next weekend. Numerous day and holiday guests will therefore be traveling on the Tauern Autobahn (A10) this weekend and that is making the situation worse:

Since September, the ÖAMTC has repeatedly recorded traffic jams due to tunnel renovation work on the A10 between Golling (Tennengau) andwerfen (Pongau). For a length of around 14 kilometers, traffic will be routed in one lane in oncoming traffic. Specifically affected are the Ofenauer and Hiefler tunnels and the Werden tunnel chain consisting of the Brentenberg, Zetzenberg and Helbersberg tunnels.

As has already been shown in the past few weeks, the construction site repeatedly tests drivers' patience. With the start of the ski season, delays should be planned, especially on weekends, warn the ÖAMTC traffic experts. Even when traffic is flowing, a broken vehicle or an accident in heavy traffic can lead to miles of traffic jams within a short period of time. Adverse weather conditions can also cause disruption.
