The Greek airline Skyexpress has taken over the first Airbus A320neo with the SX-IOG. A suitable machine, the SX-TEC, is to be taken over shortly. Both aircraft are leased from the Aviation Capital Group.

The SX-IOG has already been picked up in Finkenwerder and transferred to Greece. The carrier plans to flee a total of six Airbus A320neo. It has already been announced that two more units will be taken over in February 2020. A few weeks ago, Skyexpress released the aircraft manufacturer Airbus from a long dry spell and placed a new order.

The Greek carrier has so far primarily operated as a regional airline. In the company's history there have always been “excursions” with jets of different types, but over the long term one has remained loyal to the turboprops. That is changing now, because with six Airbus A320neo the company wants to become an important carrier both in Germany and in European traffic.

Skyexpress is currently planning to use the SX-IOG in scheduled services between Thessaloniki and Athens from December 14, 2020. Furthermore, Heraklion is to be served from the capital with the A320neo in the future. The airline names December 18, 2020 as the start date.
