The Greek airline Skyexpress will start a non-stop connection between Milan-Malpensa and Athens on October 26, 2022. This is to be served with Airbus A320neo machines. At the same time, the carrier is also planning to add the A321neo to its fleet.
Five weekly flights are to be operated between the two metropolises. Last year Rome was offered on the Skyexpress route network. It is now the first country to serve two destinations year-round. Rome is stocked up to daily.
“A year ago in Italy we created a bridge that boosts tourism and the economy as a whole. A decision confirmed by the dynamic response of the passengers. Staying true to its vision of flying higher every year, Skyexpress strengthens its presence in the Italian market with the launch of the Athens – Milan direct service, now offering travelers a new, reliable, “green” and affordable option,” says Vassilis Krasanakis, Network Planning & Pricing Manager at the Greek airline.
Skyexpress, which served 34 domestic and 24 international destinations in the summer, will add two more new destinations, Munich and Sofia, to its route network in the near future, reaching a total of 2022 destinations by 8.
In the medium term, medium-haul jets of the Airbus A321neo type are also to be incorporated. This is considered necessary in order to be able to continue on the growth path that has been taken so far. Before the corona pandemic, turboprops were mainly used within Greece. Surprisingly, the decision was made to include the A320neo in the fleet and since then it has pursued an offensive expansion.
