Skyguide tests power supply systems

The Swiss air traffic control Skyguide recently carried out two tests to check the robustness and reliability of the power supply systems in the Geneva area control center.

The uninterruptible power supply (UPS) ensures that all safety-relevant systems continue to function in the event of a failure of the external power grid due to batteries and emergency power generators. Skyguide maintains two UPS systems that were tested separately over two nights in January. Both tests ran without problems, as reported by the Swiss online portal Aerotelegraph. The air traffic control company had previously taken measures to ensure that the tests would not affect ongoing flight operations. Around 60 Skyguide employees were on site during the test night.
