The news hit like a bomb: the United States wants to let tourists through the border again - even if only vaccinated people at first. The anticipation of traveling to the USA is now also reflected in the number of bookings.

After the news that the US will open to fully vaccinated travelers from the EU and the UK from November, the online travel company Skyscanner saw 28 percent more traffic on the German website within an hour. Not only that: flight bookings to the USA from Germany rose on Monday, September 20th by a full 767 percent compared to Sunday, September 19th - a huge jump. Within a very short time, the USA also climbed to the podium as the most booked destination for German travelers for November and December 2021 and ranks second there. Spain is in first place.

“This is very welcome news for all travelers who have been waiting to fly to the US for over a year. The USA has always been a top destination for German travelers. Unsurprisingly, New York tops the list of top travel destinations, followed by winter sun destinations: Orlando, Los Angeles, Miami, and San Francisco. The data shows that families and larger groups prefer Orlando as a travel destination, while individual travelers and couples are more likely to choose US city break destinations, ”said Skyscanner spokeswoman Friederike Burge.
