The Ukrainian low-cost airline SkyUp Airlines can certainly imagine adding Antonov machines to its fleet. However, company boss Dmitry Seroukhov sets conditions for this. For example, the purchase price must be comparable to aircraft from other manufacturers.

Should this not be the case, then Antonov jets would only be added to the fleet if the state supported them financially. This could be implemented, for example, by means of state-subsidized leasing rates. "SkyUp is ready to fly the jets around the world as an Antonov ambassador," the manager told Liga.net.

The Ukrainian government is currently examining a new flag carrier in the air. This should fly with machines from domestic production. A decision has not yet been made, but it is being explored whether SkyUp Airlines could serve this purpose. In addition, SkyUp also hopes that help will be provided for the loss of earnings due to the corona pandemic. According to Seroukhov, the carrier applied for this as early as April 2020, but has not yet received any acceptance or rejection. It is anticipated that loans or credit guarantees will be granted to SkyUp and its competitors by the end of the year.
