On Wednesday, the DHC Dash 8-100 with the registration 5Y-GRS suffered a broken landing gear at Elwak Airport. As can be seen in photos published from the scene of the accident, the left landing gear collapsed. As a result, the turboprop aircraft came off the runway.

According to local reports, the plane operated by Skyward Express is said to have been fully occupied. All inmates got away with the horror. According to official information, there were no injuries. However, the aircraft suffered significant damage.

Elwak is located in Kenya and has a gravel road. To what extent this surface could have played a role is still unclear. The damaged aircraft is around 27 years old and was originally delivered to Tyrolean Airways. After a job at Olympic Aviation, what is now the 5Y-GRS came to Kenya in 2004.
