While decisions by the Constitutional Court take a long time in Austria, it happened very quickly in Slovakia. The Supreme Court overturned the entry requirements, which came into force on July 9, 2021.

In an interim order, the Constitutional Court of Slovakia ruled that the old entry rules apply again until the final judgment. The Kosice-based court examines whether a de facto vaccination requirement on entry is in line with the constitution. The decision of the highest judges is considered a bitter defeat for the government in Slovakia.

Specifically, it is about the fact that Slovakia only allowed fully vaccinated people without quarantine to enter the country from July 9, 2021 until it was repealed by the Constitutional Court. All the others had to undergo a 14-day quarantine, from which one could test oneself after five days. It is still unclear what effects the decision of the Supreme Court will have on people who are already segregated.
