It was very quiet for the airline SmartLynx Malta for a while, but now the carrier is back with a new business model. Two Airbus A321-200 freighters will be operated on behalf of the Deutsche Post DHL Group.

These are used in the logistics company's cargo network. These are former passenger planes that have been converted into freighters. At the moment, the A321 is increasingly being converted, which is also due to the currently high price for Boeing 757 machines. The backbone of DHL's own fleet is the B757.

SmartLynx Malta is a subsidiary of the Avia Solutions Group. Originally this branch was founded to operate passenger flights. However, the corona crisis led this flight operation to specialize in freight. According to a message from the Maltese carrier, the A321F fleet is to be expanded to four units by 2022.
