On Monday, October 28, 2024, an Embraer E195 belonging to the Lufthansa subsidiary Air Dolomiti had to abort its flight to Frankfurt due to smoke in the cockpit.

The plane took off from Florence, but noticed a problem while in Italian airspace and reported smoke in the cockpit. The pilots then decided to turn around to Verona, where the plane landed safely.

According to initial reports, no one was injured in this incident. The exact cause of the smoke is still unclear and the relevant authorities will investigate the incident. Air Dolomiti, a regional airline and subsidiary of Lufthansa, mainly serves intra-European routes and plays an important role in regional air traffic.
