On February 16th and 17th, 2024, rail travelers in France will have to expect significant restrictions, as various unions are calling on SNCF employees to stop work. This will also have an impact on international rail traffic.

Deutsche Bahn AG expects that numerous trains will not be able to be picked up or handed over at the border stations on the two days of the strike. That's why some long-distance trains will be short-routed, i.e. they will end “at the border”. Other connections will be canceled without replacement because, for example, it involves TGV wagons that will not even come from France to Germany on Friday and Saturday.

Many trains will also be canceled in regional transport. Both in Switzerland and Germany it is pointed out that you should find out quickly whether the cross-border connection is running or canceled. The SBB is making every effort to ensure that a replacement service within Switzerland can run at least to (or from) the border station. The same applies to long-distance connections, but this will not work in all cases.

Deutsche Bahn AG points out in passenger information that the following long-distance routes are affected by cancellations: “ICE” and “TGV” trains between Munich via Stuttgart and Paris as well as Frankfurt am Main and Paris. It is already clear that the following connections will fail without replacement:

Canceled on February 16.02.2024, XNUMX:

  • TGV 9551 Paris Est – Frankfurt (Main) Hbf
  • TGV 9552 Frankfurt (Main) Hbf – Paris Est
  • ICE 9555 Paris Est – Frankfurt (Main) Hbf
  • ICE 9556 Frankfurt (Main) Hbf – Paris Est
  • ICE 9563 Paris Est – Frankfurt (Main) Hbf
  • TGV 9570 Stuttgart – Paris Est
  • TGV 9574 Stuttgart – Paris Est
  • TGV 9575 Paris – Stuttgart
  • TGV 9577 Paris Est – Munich
  • TGV 9579 Paris Est – Munich

Canceled on February 17.02.2024, XNUMX:

  • TGV 9551 Paris Est – Frankfurt (Main) Hbf
  • TGV 9552 Frankfurt (Main) Hbf – Paris Est
  • TGV 9559 Paris Est – Frankfurt (Main) Hbf
  • TGV 9570 Stuttgart Hbf – Paris Est
  • TGV 9575 Paris Est – Stuttgart main station
  • TGV 9576 Munich Hbf – Paris Est
  • TGV 9578 Stuttgart Hbf – Paris Est
  • TGV 9592 Stuttgart Hbf – Paris Est
  • TGV 9593 Paris Est – Stuttgart main station
  • TGV 9579 is no longer available between Strasbourg and Stuttgart main station

According to Deutsche Bahn AG, the following rule applies to passengers affected by the cancellations: “Passengers with a ticket for a journey within Germany on these trains, please use another train. The train connection has been lifted. The ticket is valid for the journey to the original destination, even with a changed route, as long as the same carriers as stated on the ticket are used. Seat reservations for the canceled trains can be canceled free of charge. The following goodwill rule also applies to all affected passengers with an international ticket for one of these trains: You can now use your ticket for the trip planned for February 16.02.2024, 17.02.2024 or February XNUMX, XNUMX. However, a new reservation must be booked free of charge at the DB Travel Center. In addition, the other tariff and statutory passenger rights apply, so that e.g. B. a ticket refund is also possible under the appropriate conditions.
