Salzburg Airport started 2020 with a slight minus of one percent. In February, however, the second largest airport recorded an increase of seven percent to 258.852. The number of flight movements also increased by five percent to 2.145. From March onwards, things went steeply downhill due to the corona pandemic.

The number of take-offs and landings halved to 1.089. There were 9.537 passengers on board - a decrease of 60 percent. In the lockdown month of April 2020, there were only four commercial flight movements with only eleven passengers. May 2020 was just a little better: 22 take-offs and landings with 247 passengers. In June there were 28 commercial flight movements with 1.633 passengers.

The traditionally strong travel months of July and August were extremely weak in Salzburg this year due to the corona pandemic, but according to the circumstances, it was possible to increase compared to the respective previous month. The number of flight movements was reduced by 80 percent in July. 290 take-offs or landings were counted. There were 18.377 passengers on board - a decrease of 87 percent.

In August 2020 there were 381 commercial flight movements in Salzburg, 74 percent fewer than in the same month of the previous year. Accordingly, it is hardly surprising that the number of passengers fell by 80 percent to 30.704.
