The Maltese tourism authority assumes that there will be significantly more holidaymakers this year than in the past two years. In Germany, almost all corona rules - including the obligation to wear a mask - have been lifted.

When entering the country, however, the 3G rule is still used. If travelers are fully vaccinated, have recovered from COVID-19 within the last six months, or have a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours for the PCR test and 24 hours for the rapid test prior to entry , no quarantine is required. Both the PCR and the rapid test are considered equivalent when it comes to entry requirements. If any of these documents are not presented upon arrival, a 10-day mandatory quarantine will apply, which will be reduced to 7 days after a negative test.

In addition to the relaxation of these regulations, it is also no longer necessary to wear a mask on flights to Malta, as well as in all indoor and outdoor areas after arrival, with the exception of hospitals.

The same rule also applies to events in Malta. Seating restrictions have been lifted and maximum capacity for public gathering spaces has been restored to pre-COVID-19 levels.
