Southwest flown deep in the red

Advertising

The once highly profitable low-cost airline Southwest Airlines posted a loss of 2020 billion euros in the third quarter of 1,2. The company has never lost so much money in just three months. In the same period last year it was clearly positive with 659 million US dollars.

The numbers communicated by Southwest also show that sales have slumped 68 percent to $ 1,8 billion. Company boss Gary Kelly does not expect that demand will stabilize in the short term. In a broadcast he suspects that this will only be the case when vaccines are generally available and herd immunity is achieved with them.
