The US aircraft manufacturer Boeing has won another major order after the re-registration of its unlucky 737 Max. The US low-cost airline Southwest has ordered another 100 medium-haul jets of the 737 Max series.
The US company announced this today in Seattle. In addition, the airline has secured purchase options for 155 machines. Competitor Airbus is left empty-handed. The European aircraft manufacturer had also hoped for the major order. Southwest has now ordered 180 Max jets in the standard 737-8 version and 200 of the smaller 737-7 version from Boeing. More than 30 of these machines have already been delivered. There are also options for 270 jets.
