The Southwest Airlines workforce received bad news on Thursday evening: The company is threatening to send 6828 employees on unpaid leave.
That would mean that around twelve percent of employees would have to worry about their jobs, like cnbc.com reported. Southwest Airlines justified the move in a statement with a lack of significant progress in negotiations with employee representatives for temporary cost reductions. The company's decision was “not entirely surprising”, but it was “incredibly disappointing,” said Swapa Pilots Union president Jon Weaks in a video message. “Today is a sad day in Southwest Airlines history”.
